Saffron Skies

Not much is known about Jean Tay. Some online gallery accounts say she’s from Singapore, one says she’s from USA (and the gallery is void), so maybe some of the accounts are impersonators (hmm…).

The artist was on deviantART since 2003. The comments on each piece seem to be more extensive there than on the other accounts, so that’s where I’ve gotten the information from.

The (good-looking) character in the middle is Captain Renard Vierstein, who has perfect eyesight in both eyes. He wears the patch as a fashion statement. The first character on the left is Claris. Claris is in fact, a male, who lived his past life as a palace courtesan (that explains things).

To the right is Kieri, who ran away from home, boredom and his destiny of tending crops for life. He snuck onto Vierstein’s ship bundled with a sack of potatoes, discovered only after the Lorissia was well out to sea, and having nearly asphyxiated to death.
