Valentino Zubiri/ VS 1
February 2, 2008
I’m not an art critic, and most of the time I enjoy looking at art more than
I figured figure drawings (to start things off with) would keep things “interesting” here. Hence the addition of the submission page, for anybody that’s interested.
Valentino Zubiri was a compulsive buyer of non-sport trading cards by science fiction and fantasy artists for a time. They were and continue to be an inspiration.
He has drawn what regular people might consider attractive, and not-so-attractive, men and women. He’s come to appreciate the variety and spontaneity of all the art subjects.

He likes using watercolor paper because the surface is grainier or rougher than pastel or drawing paper. The surface helps to “pixelate” the drawing crayons, in order to show coarse shadows and shadings.
He became a masseur to get better at drawing human figures. He wrote a first full-length book, Memoirs of an Artist as a Masseur, the first draft of which was finished in 2006.
Valentino might begin to draw nudes again in 2008. All the best.
The images are from the Internet Edition PDF file of the artist’s nudes done in 1995-1996. The book is a study in illustration.

You can download the Internet Edition PDF file of the book (contains a longer bio too).
Valentino’s websites are at ValentinoZubiri and Arts Global Impact.
/* I was wondering whether to include a “this post contains tasteful nudity” note, and create thumbnails, but I didn’t want to get long-winded and/or boring, so.

It is a nice addition to your categories. I don’t think you need to add any note/or thumbnail.

nice to keep things fresh i guess ^^
yeah, for some reason i just feel that the appearance of a note/etc, would be a bit superfluous. oh well.
