1. Peacock Lagoon

2. Cover Illustration for Zodiac Calendar by Llewellyn
British artist Ciro Marchetti was influenced and inspired during his student days in England. First by the delicate pen and ink work of Arthur Rackham, and later by James Christensen, and the surrealistic dream images of Michael Parkes.
Ciro Marchetti combines his rich, dramatic illustration style with plenty of old mechanical instruments and artifacts such as compasses, theodolytes, sextants and kaleidoscopes. The current style and content of his paintings are a reflection of his sources of interest and inspiration.
Marchetti states that these combinations are transformed within his illustrations into “exotic machines, somewhat dated in style and engineering, yet capable of function beyond the current capacity of today’s real world science.”

His Tarot of Dreams images are beyond awesome and the fact that his art is digital takes the awesomeness to some other universe!

Digital art is something that I need to get into, because seeing other artists who do this is really inspiring to see, I often think and dream of my drawings being treated in the colours and special effects of photoshop or some other art software program.
Plus these are professional artists and there is something to be learned from them all.

>> alexander: indeed! i love the vibrant colours. i might go hunt for more tarot kind of illustrations…love viewing those =P
>> wayne: to be well-versed in traditional art definitely won’t hurt though. there’s just something that isn’t the same [regarding painting using a tablet, vs. painting with an actual brush to get the different gradients, for instance]. your dreams sure sound interesting!
