Whoo.

Linda Bergkvist got her first Wacom on her 20th birthday. At first, she told her parents there was no way she could ever paint on the device. A week later, she was hooked.

Linda loves painting and generally does it for fun. When she works, she sometimes references from photographs. This used to regularly be fashion photography. Now she takes her own photos and sticks loosely to them.

She’s planning a book on dark fairytales. All the images are part of a world she’s created.

In her spare time, Linda (who’s Swedish) spends time with friends, and her cat Azrael. She thinks she’s an easygoing girl — somewhat temperamental, but one who’d do anything for her friends, family, and cat.

Josephine Wall has always had a passion for light and colour, fantasy and visual story telling.

She lives contentedly with her husband at Wysteria Cottage, where she works in an attic studio.

In 2005, Pop Icon Britney Spears requested the use of a number of images for use on her website, www.britneyspears.com. Britney also purchased a number of Limited Edition prints. Josephine is working on an original painting for her.

Howard Pyle

From: The Merry Adventures of Robin Hood

Howard Pyle was born in Wilmington, Delaware on March 5, 1853. The Pyle home was in the country just outside of town next to a rich garden filled with flowers, fruit trees, vines, and a summerhouse. The images of his idyllic childhood would stay with Howard all his life.

Howard left for New York in October 1876. After nearly a year in New York, Howard began having doubts about his ability in his chosen career. He considered being an author instead. By early 1877, such thoughts vanished. He had met Charles Parsons, the art director at Harper and Brothers, the largest publisher in the country.

Howard later remarked, “I think it was not until I stood in the awful presence of the art director himself that I realized how this might be the turning point of my life.” Parsons published a sketch that Howard worked on for 6 weeks, as a double-page spread in Harper’s Weekly on March 9, 1878.

Indian Medieval Paintings

Miniatures paintings are intricate, small, and meticulously executed with delicate brushwork. They existed in the forms of colorful illuminations (drawings included in a book, especially in medieval manuscripts) or paintings. The fine brush strokes conveyed themes from the Ragas — the musical codes of Indian Classical music.
